Here at the Lottery, we love what we do. But in order to increase earnings for education and continue to give back millions to the state, we need public support. Our stakeholders help us become a better and stronger organization, which is why we take the time to support and listen to them. Whether you play our games or not, you're one of our stakeholders and your opinions matter.
The NC Lottery is a proud supporter of education across the state. An example of this support is the Teacher of the Week recognition. We partner with local news agencies throughout the state to help recognize the hard-working, dedicated teachers in North Carolina. This recognition features teachers who have been honored for their work at the school, county, state or national level.
In an effort to promote responsible play, the Lottery partners with the National Council of Problem Gambling. From Problem Gambling Awareness month in March to the Gift Responsibly campaign during the holiday season, the NC lottery participates in a year-long effort to raise awareness for problem gambling issues and the help that is available.
Our retailers are central to our success. They help us fulfill our mission of raising money for education. Understanding the need for a positive, collaborative relationship, in 2012 the Retailer Advisory Board was created. We believe this board serves a vital role in helping us understand the needs of our retailers and players. Over the last few years, they have made suggestions and recommendations that have helped us meet player expectations. Repeat Play, ticket checkers, and new ticket dispenser designs were successfully introduced to players because of the Retailer Advisory Board.
Whether you play our games or not, you're one of our stakeholders and your opinions matter.
Where does the money go? Who decides how lottery proceeds are spent? How much money has my county received from the Lottery? What happens to unclaimed prizes? How much of lottery funds go towards administrative costs? How many prizes have been won in my area? Why does the lottery spend money on advertising?
All are great questions. All deserve great answers.
