RALEIGH – An engaged couple from Craven County picked up an early wedding gift Friday after winning half of Wednesday’s $386,892 Cash 5 jackpot.
Using numbers suggested by her fiancé, Raylanda McIntyre of Havelock bought a Cash 5 ticket at the Kangaroo Express on Main Street in her hometown. The numbers added up to a $193,453 share in Wednesday's drawing.
McIntyre said the $133,967 in after-tax prize money would allow the couple to pay off bills, make home repairs and maybe take a vacation.
The other ticket that matched all five numbers in the drawing was sold at the Pic N Save on Hillsboro Street in Oxford in Granville County. Winners have 180 days to claim prizes won in lottery drawings.
