David Nguyen and his wife, Truc Pham, of Raleigh are the latest players to beat the odds of 1 in 749,398 to win a Cash 5 jackpot.
They won $216,883 in Sunday’s drawing.
They claimed their prize Monday at lottery headquarters in Raleigh. They split the jackpot, and after required state and federal tax withholdings they each took home $75,095.
They bought the $1 Quick Pick ticket at the Han-Dee Hugo’s on Western Boulevard in Raleigh.
Ticket sales from games like Cash 5 made it possible for the lottery to raise more than $634 million for the state last year. For details on how more than $331 million in lottery funds has made a difference in Wake County, click on the “For Education” section of the lottery’s website.
