Fayetteville’s Evangeline Kelly is one of two Cash 5 players to beat odds of 1 in 749,398 and split Sunday’s $492,374 jackpot.
Kelly won $246,187 after matching all five winning numbers.
She claimed her prize Monday at lottery headquarters in Raleigh. After federal and state tax withholdings, she took home $170,484.
Kelly bought the winning Quick Pick ticket at the Sunoco on Raeford Road in Fayetteville.
The other lucky ticket was sold at a Kangaroo Express on South Tryon Street in Charlotte. The winner has 180 days from Sunday to claim the prize.
Ticket sales from games like Cash 5 made it possible for the lottery to raise more than $600 million for the state last year. For details on how almost $155 million in lottery funds has made a difference in Cumberland County, click on the “For Education” section of the lottery’s website.
