Keevia Williams of Fayetteville got the weekend off to a good start Friday by claiming her Carolina Cash 5 jackpot of $430,682.
Williams beat odds of 1 in 749,398 to match all five numbers in Thursday’s drawing. After required state and federal tax withholdings, she received a check for $299,328.
Williams bought the $1 Quick Pick ticket at the Sunoco on Ramsey Street in Fayetteville. Cash 5 drawings are held every night. Jackpots start at $50,000 and grow until they are won. Tickets are $1.
Ticket sales from games like Cash 5 made it possible for the lottery to raise more than $634 million for the state last year. For details on how lottery funds have made a difference in Cumberland County, click on the “For Education” section of the lottery’s website.
