Sharon Walston of South Mills is celebrating a $167,481 Cash 5 jackpot win.
Walston beat the odds of 1 in 749,398 in Saturday’s drawing to win the prize.
She claimed her prize Friday at lottery headquarters in Raleigh. After required state and federal tax withholdings, she took home $116,401.
She bought the $1 Quick Pick ticket at the Super Stop Tobacco & Mini Mart on Oak Stump Road in Elizabeth City.
Ticket sales from games like Cash 5 made it possible for the lottery to raise more than $634 million for the state last year. For details on how lottery funds have made a difference in Camden County, click on the “For Education” section of the lottery’s website.
