Danny Marshall of Raleigh is the first player to claim one of two winning tickets for a $326,084 Cash 5 jackpot.
Marshall, who bought the $1 ticket at the Mira Mart on Glenwood Avenue in Raleigh, beat the odds of 1 in 749,398 to match all five numbers in Monday’s drawing. He split the jackpot and received $163,042.
He claimed his prize Tuesday at lottery headquarters in Raleigh. After required state and federal tax withholdings, Marshall took home $113,317.
The second winning Cash 5 ticket was sold at the Salem Express on Salem Road in Morganton. Winners have 180 days to claim prizes.
Ticket sales from games like Cash 5 made it possible for the lottery to raise more than $634 million for the state last year. For details on how lottery funds have made a difference in Wake County, click on the “For Education” section of the lottery’s website.
