David Elks of Grimesland is the latest player to win $100,000 in the $5,000,000 Mega Cash game. He purchased the winning ticket for $20 at the Choco Mart on U.S. 17 South in Chocowinity.
Elks claimed his prize money Monday at lottery headquarters in Raleigh. After required state and federal withholdings, he received a check for $69,507.
The $5,000,000 Mega Cash game started in May with three top prizes of $5 million, all of which remain to be claimed. There are also five $1 million prizes and three $100,000 prizes still in the game.
