Seth Manning of Jamesville in Martin County claimed the last top prize in the Crossword Connect game on Tuesday, winning $150,000.
Manning’s good luck happened after he bought the $5 scratch-off ticket at the New Dixie Mart on U.S. 17 in Williamston. He received his prize Tuesday at lottery headquarters in Raleigh. After required state and federal tax withholdings, he took home $104,253.
The game launched in December with three top prizes of $150,000. Since the last top prize has been claimed, the lottery will end the game.
Ticket sales from games like Crossword Connect make it possible for the lottery to raise more than half a billion a year for the state. For details on how lottery funds have made a difference in Martin County, click on the “For Education” section of the lottery’s website.
