RALEIGH – Velma Johnson of Fayetteville won the $200,000 top prize in the instant game, “7.” She bought the winning ticket at the Hope Mills Stop One on Hope Mills Road in Fayetteville.
Johnson claimed her prize money Monday at lottery headquarters in Raleigh. After required state and federal withholdings, she received a check for $139,003.
The $5 scratch-off game started in March with seven top prizes of $200,000. Two top prizes remain.
Ticket sales from instant games like “7” make it possible for the lottery to raise more than half a billion dollars a year for the state. For details on how lottery funds have made a difference in Cumberland County, click on the “For Education” section of the lottery’s website.
