RALEIGH – William and Cynthia Dabbs of Trinity say they can accomplish two goals with their $100,000 win: renovating their home and taking a trip to the mountains.
William bought a lucky Ruby Red 7’s ticket at the Archdale Food Mart on North Main Street in Archdale. He stood in the store and immediately scratched off the ticket. He couldn’t believe it when he realized that he won.
“I was in shock,” William said. “I never thought it would happen to me.”
After required state and federal withholdings, the Dabbs received a check for $69,507.
The $20 game launched in June 2016 with three top prizes of $4 million, four $1 million prizes and eight prizes of $100,000. One top prize of $4 million and three $100,000 prizes remain.
Ticket sales from instant games like Ruby Red 7’s make it possible for the lottery to raise more than half a billion dollars a year for education. For details on how lottery funds have made a difference in Randolph County, click on the “For Education” section of the lottery’s website.
