John Amos Justice of Gibsonville, his son, and his grandson are planning a trip to the beach after they won $50,000 playing Powerball.

They beat odds of one in 913,129 to win the prize in Wednesday’s drawing.

Justice’s son John Justice Jr. bought the winning $2 Powerball ticket at the Huff’s on West Main Street in Gibsonville. When he saw the winning numbers, he couldn’t believe it. “I checked those numbers over and over again,” he said. “I didn’t want to count my chickens before they laid their eggs.”

The Justice family claimed the prize at the Greensboro Claim Center. John Tyler Justice shared it with his father and grandfather. After taking a trip to the beach, they plan to put the rest of the money in savings.

Their ticket matched the numbers on the four white balls and the Powerball to win $50,000. It’s one of 16 tickets to win a big prize in North Carolina in Wednesday’s Powerball drawing. Fifteen other tickets won prizes from $50,000 to $1 million.
