Judith Worster of Mooresville got to start her week with a big win, a $418,090 Cash 5 jackpot.
Worster, a longtime lottery player, bought the winning ticket for Saturday’s drawing at the Harris Teeter on Argus Lane in Mooresville.
She claimed her prize Tuesday at lottery headquarters in Raleigh. After required state and federal tax withholdings, Worster took home $290,570.
The jackpot for Tuesday’s Cash 5 drawing has risen to $95,000.
Ticket sales from draw games like Cash 5 make it possible for the lottery to raise more than half a billion dollars a year for education. For details on how lottery funds have made a difference in all of North Carolina’s 100 counties click on the “For Education” section of the lottery’s website.
