James Harrison of Rocky Mount calls his daughter his “lucky charm” after he said she helped him win a $200,000 lottery prize.

The saw operator stopped by the Friendly Way on North Raleigh Street in Rocky Mount after picking his daughter up from work and bought a Win It All scratch-off ticket.

“Wow!” was all Harrison said he could think after saw the prize.

He claimed his prize Monday at lottery headquarters in Raleigh. After required state and federal tax withholdings, he took home $141,501. He plans to use some of the money to fix up his house. He’ll save the rest for retirement.

“It’s incredible.” Harrison said. “So many things had to line up for me to win. If I hadn’t taken my daughter to work that day, I never would have stopped when I did to get a ticket. It all clicked into place. If I had gotten my ticket even a little earlier, I never would have won. She’s definitely my good luck charm.”

The $5 ticket launched in December with four top prizes of $200,000. Two top prizes remain.
