Linda Wiseman, a home health care aide from Robbins, said seeing a $100,000 prize appear on her scratch-off ticket became a breathtaking moment.
Wiseman said she was playing her favorite instant game, Millionaire Bucks, at Eagle Springs Mini Mart on N.C. 211 when her good luck happened.
“I took it to my car and scratched it and when I saw those last three zeros, I said, ‘Oh my goodness,’” said Wiseman as she claimed her prize Friday. “I couldn’t breathe for a minute…. It is a lot of money to me.”
After required state and federal tax withholdings, Wiseman took home $70,506. She said she planned to pay bills and help her son with some family medical bills.
Wiseman became the 7th person to win one of eight $100,000 prizes in the Millionaire Bucks game. When the game started in January 2016, it also offered three top prizes of $4 million and five $1 million prizes. One $4 million prize and one $1 million prize remain to be claimed.
Ticket sales from instant games like Millionaire Bucks make it possible for the lottery to raise more than $600 million a year for education.
