James Lloyd and his wife Earl Jean are celebrating after they played Jumbo Bucks and won $750,000.
Their good luck happened when they stopped at the Rose Mart on North Garnett Street in Henderson and bought the $10 ticket.
They claimed the prize Tuesday at lottery headquarters in Raleigh. After required state and federal tax withholdings, they took home $528,760.
Jumbo Bucks launched in January with eight top prizes of $750,000. Four top prizes remain.
Ticket sales from games like Jumbo Bucks make it possible for the lottery to raise more than $650 million a year for education. For details on how lottery funds have made a difference in all of North Carolina’s 100 counties, click on the “Impact” section of the lottery’s website.
