Tens of thousands of North Carolinians, trying to win a $625 million annuity Powerball jackpot, will win prizes that could range from $4 to $2 million in Saturday’s drawing.
“If a player doesn’t win the jackpot, they could still bring home over a million dollars,” said Mark Michalko, executive director of the N.C. Education Lottery. “There are nine ways to win playing the game, so double check your tickets to see if you won a different prize.”
In Wednesday’s drawing, 74,595 tickets sold in North Carolina won a prize. Since the jackpot started on Dec. 29, two tickets sold in North Carolina have won $2 million.
When players buy a $2 Powerball ticket, they can win prizes ranging from $4 to $1 million. The player can choose to add the Power Play feature for $1. This will multiply a players non-jackpot winnings.
The jackpot for Saturday’s drawing is a $625 million annuity, worth $380.6 million cash. This is the 4th largest Powerball jackpot on record, and the 7th largest jackpot in U.S. history.
Odds of winning the Powerball jackpot are 1 in 292.2 million. Four North Carolinians have won jackpots and took home prizes ranging from $74.5 to $188 million.
