Yohanes Haile of Indian Trail tried his luck on a Jumbo Bucks scratch-off and scored a $750,000 top prize.
Haile purchased his winning $10 ticket from the Food Lion on U.S. 74 West in Indian Trail.
He claimed his prize at lottery headquarters in Raleigh on Tuesday. After required federal and state tax withholdings, he took home $530,628.
Ticket sales from scratch-offs make it possible for the lottery to raise more than $725 million per year for education. For details on how lottery funds have helped all of North Carolina’s 100 counties, click on the “Impact” section of the lottery’s website.
