Dineice Perry of Colerain took a chance on the 50X The Cash scratch-off game and won $1 million.
She purchased her winning $10 ticket from Duck Thru Food Store off North Main Street in Colerain.
Perry claimed her prize Monday at lottery headquarters in Raleigh. She had the choice of taking an annuity that has 20 payments of $50,000 a year or a lump sum of $600,000. She chose the lump sum. After required state and federal tax withholdings, she took home $424,503.
50X The Cash launched in February with four top prizes of $1 million. Two $1 million prizes remain. All Multiply the Cash games can also be entered into second-chance drawings on the lottery’s website. Each drawing has one $100,000 prize, eight $5,000 prizes, and 25 $500 prizes. The entry deadline for the first of four second-chance drawings is March 31.
Ticket sales from scratch-off games make it possible for the lottery to raise more than $700 million a year for education. For details on how lottery funds have helped all of North Carolina’s 100 counties, click on the “Impact” section of the lottery’s website.
