Shelia Fallin of Broadway tried her luck on a $5 Emerald Green 8’s scratch-off and found herself the winner of a $200,000 top prize.
Fallin purchased her winning ticket at the Quik Mart on Broadway Road in Sanford.
While the state’s Stay At Home order remains in effect, the lottery lifted the requirement that winners of prizes of $100,000 or more claim their prize in person.
Fallin claimed her prize on Monday. After federal and state tax withholdings, she took home $141,502.
Emerald Green 8’s launched in March with four top prizes of $200,000. One $200,000 prize remains to be claimed.
Ticket sales from scratch-off games make it possible for the lottery to raise more than $700 million per year for education. For details on how $4.4 million raised by the lottery made a difference in Lee County last year, visit www.nclottery.com and click on the “Impact” section.
