David Sweeting of Alexander watched his $25 ticket reveal a $100,000 prize.
He purchased his winning Extreme Cash ticket from the Kenansville Food Mart on Mallard Street in Kenansville.
Sweeting claimed his prize Tuesday at lottery headquarters in Raleigh. After required federal and state tax withholdings, he took home $70,752.
Ticket sales from scratch-offs like Extreme Cash make it possible for the lottery to raise more than $725 million a year for education. For details on how lottery funds have helped all of North Carolina’s 100 counties, click on the “Impact” section of the lottery’s website.
