Jason Clark of Canton tried his luck on a Cash 5 ticket and won a $668,202 jackpot.
The lucky Quick Pick ticket was sold at the Ingles Market on Tunnel Road in Asheville. Clark’s ticket matched all five white balls in the Oct. 21 drawing to win the jackpot. The odds of winning a Cash 5 jackpot are 1 in 962,598.
Clark claimed his prize Thursday. He took home $472,754 after required federal and state tax withholdings. Clark, who works as a manager at the store, said he purchased the lucky ticket while taking a break.
Cash 5 tickets are $1 and drawings are held every night. Thursday’s jackpot is $808,000.
Cash 5 is one of four lottery games in North Carolina where players have the option of buying their tickets through Online Play either through the lottery’s website or with the NC Lottery Official Mobile App.
