Janique Ebanks of Concord couldn’t believe her luck when she found out she was the $100,000 winner of the 2021 Multiply The Cash Second-Chance drawing.
“You know I didn’t believe it at first,” she said. “I thought, ‘This must be a scam!’ I had to call and verify.”
Her entry was chosen out of 30,586,092 in the April 7 drawing. In addition to the $100,000 prize, eight people won $5,000, and 25 people won $500. Winners of second-chance drawings receive a phone call or email notifying them that they won.
Ebanks claimed her prize Friday at lottery headquarters in Raleigh. After required federal and state tax withholdings, she took home $70,750.
Players can enter their Multiply The Cash tickets into the lottery’s second 2021 Multiply The Cash second-chance drawing scheduled for June 9.
Ticket sales from scratch-off games make it possible for the lottery to raise more than $725 million per year for education. For details on how $14.7 million raised by the lottery made a difference in Cabarrus County in 2020, visit www.nclottery.com and click on the “Impact” section.
