Jarrett Miskove of Murphy had a lot to celebrate on the 4th of July after he won half of Sunday’s $316,182 Cash 5 jackpot.
Miskove purchased his winning ticket, using his own numbers, from the Hot Spot on West U.S. 64 in Murphy.
He claimed his half of the jackpot, $158,091, on Wednesday at lottery headquarters in Raleigh. After required federal and state tax withholdings, Miskove took home $111,850.
Emmanuel Tucker of Durham won the other half of the jackpot with a ticket purchased from the Bull Market on West Lakewood Avenue in Durham.
Carolina Cash 5 tickets are $1 and drawings are held every night. Thursday’s jackpot is $175,000. The odds of winning a Cash 5 jackpot are 1 in 962,598.
Cash 5 is one of four lottery games in North Carolina where players have the option of buying their tickets through Online Play either through the lottery’s website or with the NC Lottery Official Mobile App.
Ticket sales from draw games like Cash 5 make it possible for the lottery to raise more than $725 million per year for education.
