Jeremy Sowells of Raeford tried his luck on a $20 Fast Play ticket Saturday and won a $308,513 jackpot plus $200,000 cash.
Sowells bought his lucky 100X The Cash ticket at Muncheez Express on Fayetteville Road in Raeford.
The Fast Play rolling jackpot grows with every ticket purchased. When Sowells made his purchase, it had just reached $308,513. Because he bought a $20 ticket, he won 100 percent of the jackpot and an additional $200,000.
Sowells arrived at lottery headquarters Tuesday to collect his prize and, after required state and federal tax withholdings, took home $361,101.
On Tuesday afternoon, the Fast Play jackpot was $52,000 and growing. The odds of winning a Fast Play jackpot are 1 in 320,000.
Ticket sales from scratch-off games make it possible for the lottery to raise more than $2.5 million a day for education. The state has provided $40 million in grants, using money raised by the lottery, to help Hoke County with school construction.
