The Mega Millions jackpot continues to roll as players can try for an $820 million jackpot tonight, the fifth largest in Mega Millions history and eighth largest in U.S. history.

A winner could claim the prize as an $820 million annuity or $422 million in cash.

Friday’s Mega Millions drawing produced two different $1 million winning tickets in North Carolina. A Pikeville man claimed one of the prizes on Monday. The other winning ticket, which has not been claimed yet, came from Online Play in Statesville. The odds of matching numbers on all five white balls are 1 in 12.6 million.

“Even when the jackpot isn’t won, we still see amazing prizes won all the time in North Carolina,” said Mark Michalko, executive director of the N.C. Education Lottery. “Friday’s two $1 million wins serve as the latest example. Tonight, North Carolina is ready to take home that jackpot.”

Mega Millions has gone 27 straight drawings since the last jackpot hit on April 18 in New York. The odds of winning the Mega Millions jackpot are 1 in 302 million.

Players can buy Mega Millions tickets at any lottery retail location or through Online Play on the lottery’s website, www.nclottery.com.

Ticket sales from draw games make it possible for the lottery to raise more than $2.5 million a day on average for education. For details on how lottery funds have made a difference in all of North Carolina’s 100 counties, click on the “Impact” section of the lottery’s website.
