Tina Hansley of Currie said her family couldn’t believe it when she told them she just won a $4 million scratch-off prize.

“I called my children and my mom but none of them believed me,” she laughed.

Hansley bought her lucky $30 Black Titanium ticket from the Yaya Mini Mart on N.C. 210 in Currie.

“I asked the girl in the store to look at it to make sure I was looking at it right,” she recalled. “Then I tried to settle down. I was shocked.”

Hansley said she has played the Black Titanium tickets since the game started, hoping to win the $4 million prize.

“There’s always a chance,” she said. “You just never know so you try and see what happens.”

When Hansley arrived to collect her prize, she had a choice to make. She could choose to receive the prize as an annuity of $200,000 over 20 years or a lump sum of $2.4 million. She chose the lump sum of $2.4 million and, after required state and federal tax withholdings, took home $1,716,009.

The Black Titanium game debuted in June 2023 with six $4 million prizes and 16 $100,000 prizes. Two $4 million prizes and five $100,000 prizes remain to be claimed.
