Mega Millions and Powerball players in North Carolina have two chances to win big this weekend playing for jackpots that total $901 million.
A Mega Millions winner tonight would have the choice of taking home the $525 million jackpot as an annuity or $247.1 million in cash.
A Powerball winner on Saturday would have the choice of taking home the $376 million jackpot as an annuity or $177.5 million in cash.
Even though both jackpots remain up for grabs, others nice wins happened this week. Two lucky tickets in North Carolina matched four white balls and the yellow Mega Ball in Tuesday’s Mega Millions drawing:
• A $3 ticket, bought at the Circle V Mart on South McPherson Church Road in Fayetteville, won $20,000 when the 2X Megaplier hit.
• A $2 ticket, purchased using Online Play in Cary, won $10,000.
“We have seen some great wins recently for North Carolinians in both big draw games,” said Mark Michalko, executive director of the N.C. Education Lottery. “That’s why it’s important for players to check their tickets carefully after every drawing since there are nine different ways to win.”
Players can buy Mega Millions and Powerball tickets at any lottery retail location or through Online Play on the lottery’s website, www.nclottery.com, or with the NC Lottery Official Mobile App.
The odds of winning a Mega Millions jackpot are 1 in 302 million. The odds of winning a Powerball jackpot are 1 in 292 million.
