The Powerball jackpot continues its upward climb, now standing at $559 million for Wednesday’s drawing.

Powerball has gone 30 consecutive drawings without a jackpot winner, the last win coming on New Year’s Day in Michigan. A winner tonight could claim the jackpot as a $559 million annuity or $273.3 million in cash.

“Ever since the first day of the year, the Powerball jackpot has gone up and the excitement has grown with it,” said Mark Michalko, executive director of the N.C. Education Lottery. “We would love to see that climb end tonight with a jackpot win in North Carolina. Good luck.”

• 22,606: The total number of winning tickets in Monday’s drawing
• $11.4 million: The estimated amount raised for education on the current Powerball run

Another chance to win big this week occurs Friday when the Mega Millions drawing offers a $792 million jackpot as an annuity or $381.8 million in cash. If won, that jackpot would represent the sixth largest in Mega Millions history.

Players can buy Powerball or Mega Millions tickets at any lottery retail location or through Online Play on the lottery’s website or the NC Lottery Official Mobile App. The odds of winning the Powerball jackpot are 1 in 292 million. The odds of winning the Mega Millions jackpot are 1 in 302 million.
