Wake County man wins $475,492 Cash 5 jackpot

Jonathan Luna of Garner took a chance on a $1 Cash 5 ticket and won a $475,492 jackpot.

Luna bought his lucky ticket from Steve’s Mini Mart on West Garner Road in Garner. His ticket matched all five numbers to win the jackpot in the Dec. 8 drawing. The odds of matching numbers on all five balls are 1 in 962,598.

Luna claimed his prize at lottery headquarters Wednesday in Raleigh. After required federal and state tax withholdings, he took home $338,788.

Cash 5 is one of six lottery games in North Carolina where players have the option of buying their tickets at a retail location or with Online Play through the lottery’s website or with the NC Lottery Official Mobile App. Wednesday’s jackpot is $163,000.

Finally, I got an email from NCEL saying I won!!! I've been entering my tickets on the page since 2015, I finally got picked for one of the 25 prizes to win $100. I'm happy ??. I'm wanting the 100K at the end of the month, 100pts is alot for one drawing. I only entered 10 for this one, so I'm stopping at the 30 entries I have for the 100klK since I've experienced it doesn't take a lot of entries to win. Thanks NCEL.NC Lottery

Hi, Adam! The winners should be showing on the page now - just visit the drawing page, click the drawing date, and select "Winners" to view them. Winners are generally contacted within 48 hours of a drawing and their info is added to the Winners section of the drawing page as they claim, so there can sometimes be a bit of a delay with listing winner names on the page - sorry about that!

I wonder did you have to wait more then 7 days to get your winnings, I won 800.00 and only got 440.00 and still waiting for it to go to my online banking, playing online seems to be a problem to get your winnings, thinking twice about playing online
