This holiday season, you can Play Smart Gift Smart by donating supplies to local schools, and enter to win a pack of scratch-offs.

Playing Smart means only gifting lottery tickets to adults. You can still give kids a winning chance at a successful future by donating school supplies. When you gift supplies to schools, you can help students have a great year and have a chance for a win yourself!

We expanded our Play Smart, Gift Smart effort with a special promotion to support schools and education groups all across our state. Check out our Play Smart website to find out how you can gift tools for teachers in your area and enter to win a pack of scratch-offs.

The school supply drive begins today and runs through Dec. 31. A drawing for the scratch-off prizes is scheduled for Jan. 8. Each region will have FIVE winners.

You can drop off donations at any lottery claim center. We will collect the donated school supplies and deliver them to local school supply warehouses or schools in each region .

So, Play Smart this season, and Gift Smart to create holiday cheer when you donate school supplies.

Elected officials, not the lottery, decide how to best use the money we raise. While the money we raise (over $1 billion last year!) is a lot, please remember that the statewide education budget is $15 billion, so lottery dollars alone cannot cover every need.

I have two teachers in my family and one retired teacher. I have been supporting them and am proud to do so. The original education lottery gave a much higher percent to support the schools than it does now. Our legislature is responsibleNC Lottery
Hi, David! 100% of lottery funds go to education - last year, that meant over $1 billion was raised for pre-kindergarten programs, support staff salaries, school construction and renovation projects, scholarships and grants, and more. Keep in mind that the statewide education budget is around $15 billion. So while the funds we raise make a difference, they will never be able to cover every need.
