The Mega Millions jackpot just got a holiday boost of $72 million on Friday and now stands at $1.22 billion for tonight’s drawing.
A winner Friday would have the choice of taking home the $1.22 billion jackpot as an annuity or $549.7 million in cash. If won, the jackpot would represent the fifth largest in Mega Millions history and ninth largest in U.S. history.
While North Carolinians continue to go for the jackpot, players keep winning other nice prizes playing Mega Millions. Tuesday’s drawing saw one lucky $3 ticket purchased in Chapel Hill using Online Play win a $30,000 prize. Another player in Tuesday’s drawing won $10,000 on a $2 ticket purchased at the Publix on Emissary Drive in Cary.
