Celebrating National Be A Millionaire Day

May 20 represents National Be a Millionaire Day. Let’s celebrate by shouting out a few players who won million-dollar prizes since the last Millionaire Day.

$10 million prize: Sean McIntosh

  • McIntosh followed a ‘wild hair’ which led him to purchase his lucky $50 ticket
  • He won his prize on his first time playing the $10 Million Spectacular game
  • He said he plans to invest his winnings to take care of his children

$5 million prize: Joseph Johnson

  • Johnson, a Rocky Point resident, won $5 million on a $30 scratch-off purchase in November
  • He won his big prize playing the $5,000,000 Ultimate game

$4 million prize: Carissa Jones

  • Jones, a Pembroke resident, started crying when she won her $4 million prize, and her husband hugged the cashier
  • She said she would use her winnings to build her dream home
  • She called her win, which came on a $30 Black Titanium purchase in April, a “big blessing”

$2 million prize: Bobby Gary

  • Gary, a Chapel Hill resident won $2 million in June playing Mega 7’s
  • He used a lucky Chuck E. Cheese token to scratch his ticket
  • He said he planned to use his winnings to buy a house

$1 million prize: Sharon Culpepper

  • Culpepper dropped to her knees and hit the floor screaming after winning $1 million
  • Her big win came in January on a $10 Multiplier Mania scratch-off
  • She planned to use her winnings to buy a car, do some home repairs and go on a Caribbean cruise
