Three North Carolinians took part in race night on Friday at the North Carolina Education Lottery 200 race at the Charlotte Motor Speedway.
Sherry Maines of Ennis won the honor of serving as the Grand Marshal for the race. As the Grand Marshal, Maines got to say the four most famous words in racing: “Drivers, start your engines.”
Clayton resident Tiffany Prather had the privilege of being this year’s Honorary Starter. She signified the start of the race by waving the green flag as the cars roared past her.
Lisa Martin of Gibsonville won the prize of Pace Car Passenger for the race. She rode along in the Pace Car around the Charlotte Motor Speedway track right before the start of the race.
In addition to their special VIP roles, the winners received pit passes, a tour of the driver’s garage, and access to the pit suites for a bird’s eye view of the race.
What a night!
